How To Order A Custom Jerry Shaw Saddle

Although we occasionally have completed saddles (Check our Saddles in Stock page available for purchase, most of our saddles are sold on a custom order basis.  A custom saddle allows you to have a saddle tailor made to your individual needs and desires. We believe that Cowboys and Cowgirls are unique individuals and have their very own personal likes and dislikes in their saddles and western gear.  We try to accommodate that individuality whenever possible and tailor our saddles and tack items to match the wants, needs and preferences of the cowboys and cowgirls who are going to use them.

Ordering a custom saddle is easy and painless and may be done by telephone, e-mail or by letter sent via the US Mail. The best telephone number to use in placing an order is: (972) 562-6363.  The best e-mail address to use is: jshaw@jshawsaddles.com

Things move along a bit smoother if you have in mind some of your basic individual requirements when you contact us.  For instance: Type of Saddle, seat size, gullet size, fender length, padded seat or hard seat, type of rigging, choice of leather, cantle height, cinches, stirrups, etc.  We’ll be glad to help you in making these decisions if you are uncertain of your specific needs.  Your preferences will be put into a written order form and sent to you for your confirmation. A $1,000.00 deposit is required to confirm your order.  The balance plus shipping costs is due upon completion of the saddle according to the terms below.

HOW TO MEASURE A SADDLE

When it comes to saddles, Fit is everything, both for the horse and rider.  One size does not fit all. In order for a saddle to feel "right" to you or to your horse it must be the right size.  Ideally, before building a custom saddle, the purchaser would come to our shop and be fitted for a saddle by sitting in several saddles to find one that best matches his or her likes in comfort.  Then we could go out and measure the horse for the size gullet width and examine the horses back to see if there were other concerns.  Since, under most circumstances that is not feasible, it is best for the purchaser to have a good idea of what is needed before ordering.  Below are pictures / drawings that will help you understand the terminology when we're talking with you about your saddle.
